Honestly,I have a big doubt whether I can keep doing my brisk walking after my initial interests in doing a few morning walks.The reason being I easily got bored by just walking along the same trail/route;what more if I were to walk alone.Cycling is different even on the same route.One thing,cycling needs the skills to ride and the speed for us to explore further distance.Another reason,walking needs more efforts than cycling....
After doing some readings and walking with a few friends,I began to have fun in walking.My wife cum my walking partner,have explored Taman Canseri,Precinct 14,Taman Botani,Taman Wawasan ,Boardwalk Precinct 10 and the lakesides next to Masjid Putra and Alamanda Shopping complex.A few weeks ago,Nazley+ his boys,Aliff and me had managed to walk 10km in one morning session.This is the longest walk of my whole life of more than 50 years! My wife and me did 9.36 km walk at FRIM.This is her longest ever walk!
To make walking more interesting,I do some light stretching and also take photos of anything interesting along the route.This may cause delay,but it adds flavour and spices to just walking.The company I am with and the ambience do matter,but a good pair shoes is a must.
To keep me motivated,l bought a pair of Nike+ shoes with Sportband that could track my time,pace,calories burnt and distance while I walk.First, it is a good and comfortable shoes to walk.Second, by setting up walking goals I could see how I perform and these metrics are good motivation to keep me walking.The Nike+ community also has a few CHALLENGES. For now,I just keep to personal goals.
The bigger challenge for me is to make my morning walk fun and interesting so that I keep walking.No one can deny the health benefits of walking, but only a few continue walking regularly i.e 3 to4times a week.Most people walk on weekends because of their family and work commitments during the week days.
