One week in symbian country..

One week has gone by since I migrated from using Treo680 PalmOS to E71 Sysmbian smartphone.Honestly,I was in doubt whether I made the right decision about this move.I still love my Treo680 with PalmOS, but over the last 7 days,I began climbing on my learning curve and so far I have been enjoying the ride even though on some occasion I have to change my old habit like touching the screen and pushing the wrong button.

One thing that worried me most was the data(contacts,calendars etc) in my old phone.Can I get them to my new phone.Each has its own OS and I synced the data using different pc platforms(Treo on macOS,and E71 on PC on microsoft).Even though I am the heavy user of smart phone, but when it comes to really techie stuff, it is beyond me.So,I invite my gadget buddies[from palmx community] to attempt the data migration. Alhamdulilah,in about one hour, my friends Dr Azmi and Nazley had managed to do it.To celebrate the occasion and to thank my friends,we had a delicious nasi padang at Sari Ratu.Thanks guys:-)

A week is too short to make a real meaniful comment on this E71, but I began to like it.It has many apps for communications and social networking, not to mention that it syncs with Microsoft Outlook.

I have been loyal to PalmOS  for the last 10 years and tomorrow I have to leave it and return to the good old Symbian OS .I used the word 'return' because my first mobile phone was operating on SymbianOS then.

I have been very,very patient palmOS user and Palm.com kept on improving their products using windows mobile in the recent years.The Palm Pro is the last load the broke the camel back.Enough is enough and I can't wait and afford Palm Pre-too late and possibly too expensive for me.

One key element that made me stay for so long with PalmOS is its simplicity.Please keep it up and I may return when Palm is ready for me.

New bridge with old design

Either you walk or cycle to this location,then only you can see the beautiful bridge-the back entrance to PM Office in Putrajaya,Kuala Lumpur.

This morning, a group of my cycling buddies(14 of us) took the liberty to venture to the backlane of PM Office and it was a beautiful sight to behold.To really see Putrajaya,one needs a car, a bike and a boat!!!

Palm Pre

I have been waiting too long for a new PalmOS product and the recent announcement of the new Palm Pre is too late for me.I have decided to change to Nokia E71 using Symbian because the previous Palm Pro was using Windoz and I can't afford a new 3G iPhone @RM2999!.By the way,I don't know when Palm Pre is going to arrive in Malaysia and I need a new smart phone now.

The photo looks nice but I don't think it is an iPhone killer.It can keep the present palm users from moving to iPhone  and may attract new users.

Urban Sketch:Experiment #1

About a year ago, I started 'playing; with water-colours when I saw nice paintings done by my artistic friends.Then ,I followed by buying books but later it fades away.To keep up with new interest,we need friends who shared similar passion.Just like my cycling.Now,I am self motivated.Lately ,I saw a group from US who are really great urban sketchers.I just love their artworks!You can see them here.

So, last night I got whole of one blank unused notebook and started sketching from a photo I took at Putrajaya.With me,I have a bundle of sketch pencils,coloured pencils and coloured pens.Armed to the teeth but no skills, I was lost in what 'warfare' to use and where.Again, when it comes to detailing,I am no artist but an engineer.Immediately,I realised that I must be a good observer with a lot of patience to keep drawing...a long,long way to go.

I took this photo of my friend about five years ago while we were roaming the streets around Latin Quarters,Paris.I just wanted to have coffee at this famous cafe and both of us took turn to take photos of one another..

Lately,a contact at My Flickr suggested that I convert my street photos to black and white.After a few trials,I found it interesting and wish to explore further..So,I looked around for shots taken about people on the streets.This is one of them.

By the way,I love to go to this cafe again,just for the aroma of coffee and the French ambience.This time,I will try a velo..
