When I was a young boy in my kampung,I always yearn to have my own bicycle. My parents had decided not to give me a bike-reasons unknown and I dare not ask them until today.
After my HSC exam in 1972,I became a temporary teacher while waiting for the result. After getting my first salary,I immediately bought a bicycle so that I could use it to go to school.
Ten years ago, I got interested in mountain bike and bought a Haro bike for RM1200.A few years ago when my knees were being' repaired' due to arthritis,I had to stop cycling for almost three years and my youngest son Munir took over the bike. When he joined a local university, the bike was idling collecting dusts..
A few weeks ago, something got into that I wanted to ride the bike again. So I took old creaking bike out for a workout around my neigbourhood. When I arrived at a junction,I applied my brakes-both front and back were not working. So, my legs took over...luckily no fast vehicles were near me.
The following weekend,I went out looking for a new bike with a valid excuse now. By the way,I also need a new bike to motivate me to cycle...sometimes I do get bored going jogging/walking at KLCC(especially when I am alone).
Last week,I have been on the road for four times-each about 30 to 45 minutes. When I pedalled too fast yesterday, I felt pains in my knees and muscles. That is a sign that I need a rest for a day or two...
