Mouse phone?

I am 18 months behind time...but as they say,it is better late than never.

Today, while browsing for a headset to use to make calls using Skype, the salesman showed a mouse that can turns into a phone.Please see the phone below:

And it is Skype Certified!
Well... the seduction was too great.I had to succumb to it. From now on, for long local call or long distance call,I had to use skype so that I can pay back the cost of this mouse phone. By the way,personally I hate mouse-either real or electronic gadget but this one I allowed it as an exception.

Skype Pro

Tonight,I subscribed to Skype Pro for 5 months- just to the test the technology to communicate with my family members and friends overseas. I am pleased to know that I could talk to my mother in Kelantan calling from my computer to her house phone as well as to talk to my friend via his mobile phone. From my understanding, I could talk to my mother(using my computer) at the fixed cost of connection fee of about 20 sen as long as I wanted.(to her house phone).

By the way, I have yet to call my friends overseas. To my friends and readers overseas, do call me from your computer(hopefully it is free) and I can talk to you from my mobile phone.( through call forwarding when I am not online). My nickname at skype is Berisman.

Creative multimedia

First,let me thank Azul,the leader-moderator of MyMug-Malaysia Mac User Group for taking his time to show us how to make full use of the iLife's functions in our mac computer.It covers most of our interests in music, photo, video and publishing.It is more than good enough amateurs like us.

The lesson learnt from Azul is that there are so many available applications that we can use to help in our work and enjoy our hobbies, but not many of us are willing to learn to use them for our benefits.

Just look at our mobile phones.How many features that they have and compare those with  what we use them so far.It also applies to many other things in our lives.[many a time we have yet to fully utilise what we have and yet we want more things]May be I could say that our failures to maximise usage what we already have are due to our lack of knowledge and personal discipline.

Personal note to Azul: I enjoy watching your movie and photo travelogue to Bangkok.And the the photo book is great.

Twitter

Some of us may have heard about Twitter and I have been testing it at this blog for a few days.You can see the blue box just below the calendar.As early adopter of new technology,I like to try and play around with it.Sometimes, I can use it for my business.New technology gives access to new business opportunities,limited only by our creativity...

I have just written a proposal to create a community for construction project managers to communicate among themselves for their own personal benefits using mobile communication(text messaging). The SMS portal ,hopefully,shall be provided by CIDB.The technology is nothing new, but contents and collaboration need to be managed.

Now, I must put my thinking kopiah(cap) and explore how to use Twitter not only for social networking but also for business.

Today, I discovered the above because I was looking for an app that does not require me to login and navigate a few clicks before I could write for my blog.This software is free for the next 21 days.I had a hectic day today and too tired to write what I wanted to say.

After the heavy downpour this afternoon, I just caught flu - and now I am nursing a running nose.Got to sleep early and take a rest.

 Note:I just received a text message from my friend IO who is in KT right now that he missed the the sunset from Hotel Malaysia.Here are the photos I took many,many months ago.

Wikimapia

Today,I discovered something new to me.It is called Wikimapia-similar to wikipedia but is spatial format-i e information on map.Now, I hope my friends and visitors to my house won't get lost and could locate my house much easier. I have located the nearest surau and market in my neighbourhood.Next,I will try put the famous Kg Pandan Curry Kepala Ikan on the Google Map! Anyone goes there will click on the restaurant, then I can claim marketing commision to pay for my blogging;-)

By the way here is the link to my neighbourhood.I hope to add a few more restaurants and other places of public interests later.

Virtual notebook

Most days,I will be online from one to two hours. Sometimes,it is more than two hours when I got carried away after clicking from one link to another. During this online reading,I did come upon something nice to read, informative and words of wisdom to ponder.

How did I keep these interesting articles and wise words?. For short passages,I love to re-write them in my notebook(real paper) and cut and paste and file them away in my word documents. Today,I am glad that I can use a feature called google notebook where I can easily save the texts for future reference.

Lately,I also noticed a few techniques of storing and sharing info like delicous,digg etc. These stuff are a bit confusing to the non-techie mind of mine. May I ask some of you to share your experience in using these 'web-gadgets' with a senior citizen like me.
