A leader must lead..

Yesterday,I saw for the first time The President of Putrajaya joining our monthly ride.One lesson that I learnt;if we want to be leaders,we must lead and be where the action is!Whoever can be a boss by appointment but he/she is only a leader if he/she has followers.

Restaurant with A View

New restaurant called Restoran Ikan Bakar,Taman Seri Empangan-located at Presint 4,Putrajaya(next to PICC).Today,I took my wife and son for lunch-just to test the food and ikan bakar.Good food and good service and reasonable price.Now,I don't need to go Umbai in Melaka for ikan bakar.

Illegal foreigners

If you live in Klang Valley,everyone can see the big presence of foreigners living in our country.We welcome the good ones who wish to gain employment here but some of them who came through the back doors and who paid toll should be sent  back.We have enough crimes created by the locals.My congratulations to the authorities for taking actions against corrupted officers who allowed this to happen.These crooks made money at our expense by creating more bad elements in this country.

Four immigration officers jailed for taking bribes to let Indonesians in

SHAH ALAM: Four immigration officers were found guilty by a Sessions Court here on Tuesday for taking bribes in exchange for allowing easy entry for Indonesian nationals into the country two years ago.

Md Shahrizal Che Dan - convicted of 31 bribery counts totaling RM51,760 - paid the heaviest price of the lot when he was sentenced to 12 years in jail and fined RM361,400.

The court ordered Md Shahrizal, 27, to serve additional 34 years and six months imprisonment if he failed to pay up.

His colleague Mohamad Izuwansyah Samsuri, 26, was sentenced to 12 years in jail and fined RM261,950, in default 25 years and six months in jail.

Mohamad Izuwansyah was found guilty of 25 bribery counts involving RM31,690.

Two other officers Nor Shahazlina Sulaiman and Mohammad Huzzail Ahmad were each sentenced to three years in jail and fined RM14,500 (in default, one-year jail) and two years in jail and fined RM10,000 (in default, six-months jail) respectively.

Nor Shahazlina, 26, and Mohammad Huzzail, 32, were found guilty of a charge each.

They committed the offences at a house in Taman Palm Grove, a petrol station, and several Public Bank, Maybank and CIMB Bank branches around Klang between April 20 and Sept 25, 2010.

All were charged under Section 17(a) of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission Act 2009.

Judge Asmadi Hussin, in his ruling, said the defence failed to raise reasonable doubt in the prosecution's case.

DPP Nik Haslinie Hashim asked the court to mete out a heavy deterrent sentence.

“The public interest is far more important than the personal interest of the four accused. The country (at this time) is already facing an influx of foreign immigrants. They (as Immigration officers) were supposed to carry out their job honestly and responsibly,” she said.

The court allowed a stay of execution on the jail term but ordered the fines be paid.

Lawyers representing the four accused were Aminuddin Mohd Ramli, Amir Khusyairi Mohamad Tanusi and Mohamad Fozi Md Zain.

High handedness!

Yesterday,I have a not so nice experience when I asked for explaination about my application at one of the service counters at a government department in Putrajaya.The officer asked me,"Are you an engineer?".I replied yes.Then he said,"You should know this!".The implication of that statement hurts my feeling.A simple explaination will do.I only asked for a sample to submit my application.

I got two choices-argue my case or just leave.Since I donot wish to be 'elevated' to the officer's level of arrogance,I smiled and left with a thank you to him.It is better for my heart.

Below is a short note I wish to share with my fellow readers:

Humility

Getting close to  Allah by voluntary deeds is only done by those people who are completely humble and submissive to Allah. Similarly, having love for the beloved servants of Allah (His Auliya) only comes about through humility and humbleness. Furthermore, some of Allah's beloved servants are the poorest and most humble people of this world. One must love them and be kind to them and accept them as one's brothers. This can only be accomplished by those who are humble and free of arrogant pride. The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) stated,

"Allah has revealed to me that you must be humble, so that no one boasts over another." [Muslim]

Floria 2011

Yesterday I took my family to visit Floria 2100-The Flower Festival in Putrajaya. and at night we went to see the floats on the river.What a beautiful-not to be missed if you love flowers..

 

The right tools..

Whatever you are doing,please use the right tools for the right jobs!What if we failed to fix the tyres of our cars or bicycles properly?It may cost our own lives!The tools may be the right ones but the person must have knowldge and skills-otherwise the jobs will not get done.The example mentioned applies to all aspect of our everyday lives as well as the life of a nation.

Pelting stones at KTM trains?

I just can't believe what I am reading this morning!

There are some people in Negri Sembilan(also in some states)  who still cannot watch the trains passing by without throwing some stones to break a few train windows!If it happened in the 50'a and 60's I could understand, but it happened yesterday in the year 2010!These culprits should go and live in the jungle.

By the way,do you like to travel by train? I do and here is a short note I wrote three years ago.My love for the KTM is shown here where I created a flickr group photos for train in Malaysia.

 

Another 12 lives lost on the road!

Yes,just another number added to our shameful national statistic of about 5000+ annual deaths on our roads and highways!When I read the report this morning,it reminded me of what I saw when I was travelling from KB to KL yesterday for 7.5 hrs for a distance of about 500km.

On some stretches,the road was a racing track for buses,lorries,cars an motor-cycles.And many broke all the basic traffic rules in the book(especially on speed & overtaking).When the cats were away,the mice had a dance party on the road!When an accident happens, there will hues and cries from all and sundry and later,it is business as usual.Any lesson learned?

I believe that those in power knows what needs to be done.My question is when are they going to really DO SOMETHING about it to reduce this madness???

May I quote Einstein: "The greatest INSANITY of all is to expect different result when we kept on doing the same thing." Your Honour,I rest my case.

Taking a rest..

After we are tired of doing something,all of us need a rest.The photo on the right was snapped at a shopping complex as I went down the escalator.I saw four persons taking a rest on the chairs provided.One is listening to the music via his iPod,next one is reading a book and the other is reading a newspaper.The lady in pink has just sat down and making herself comfortable.

As I grow older(today I am 58 years old),I need more frequent rest and it takes longer time to recover after a hard day's work.I have to learn to live with that and embrace it.The most important thing is we accept who and what we are and make the best of it.In my case,I am blessed with good health -can walk 10km and cycle 20km  with no heart and leg problems.Thank you my Lord for your blessings.

A few younger men I met have real stress problems and one of them(age 30+) has collapsed a few days ago when his blood pressure jumped to more than 200!Please take care and take a rest when your body has spoken.
