Let our creative juice flows..

Now,it is coming to one year since I bought Paper 53 ,an apps that enables me to sketch better that I could with my pen or pencil or water colours in my moleskine notebook.To-date,I have posted 408 sketches at conteng2.tumblr.com.From that amount,I have selected about 300 that I think it is nice to share with others what I have learnt,produced and share my joys of sketching.My wild imagination told me to sell my sketches collection as  an eBook;-)

I am not an artist but an old engineer in my early sixties.As I fade away,I like to make the last part of my journey more colourful with my sketching and photography hobbies..

Many of photographs I snapped and sketches I drew are not worth sharing with others online,and yet I did.I am not shy to learn.By posting online via my blogs and Facebook,I got feedback from my friends.From their comments/suggestions  I learn a lot and along the way,I have improved to some extent that I began to love the photos I snapped and the simple sketches I did.Most of us donot know that we are creative in some way.We have to explore our own abilities and see how far could we go..There are frustrations,excitements and joys along the journey but that make our lives more interesting and colourful..La vita e bella.

Once our minds are engaged in creative activities like photography and sketching,to my pleasant suprise I discovered that I began to be more creative in my work and personal lives.

My sketch in art gallery?

No,not really...I did this for fun using an apps from appstore in my iPad2.

On second thought,why not having iPad sketchers and artists display their artistic talents at public galleries?

By the way,here is my sketch of two tulip flowers I did on my iPad2.I enjoy the fun of sketching and see how far my skills could display my creative juice flowing if I have any..

I discovered that sketching is a way I could relax and reduce my work stress and let my imagination go a bit wild..

Putrajaya Sketch Book

I love to sketch the beauty of natural and built environment.Putrajaya has plenty to keep busy for the next few years.Yesterday,I decided to have a separate blog for it.The link is here.Todate,I have made more than 300 sketches from all over Malaysia,but I have uploaded about 30 sketches of Putrajaya in this blog.May be one fine day,I will have the gut to publish them.

Exploring new way to draw

I was cracking my head on how to draw a dandelion white flowers with some intricate green leaves?No way I could do it.

Learning from my experience in problem solving,I decided to ignore the green leaves and just do the white flowers on green background.So here is the photo of my sketch.I love to snap beautiful flowers with my camera,but to sketch or paint a flower is another story..

Learning from last six months of playing around with digital sketching via Paper53,I learnt that doing simple sketch of a small part of the whole big picture is better for novices like me.Let us do the small easier part and then let the beholders complete the picture in their own minds and watch them in their own way..

Touch of colours!

These boring cabins that were turned into a temporary office for an event looks nice and interesting.Just a little bit of colours made a lot of difference!

Sketching KLCC

 A few days ago I saw a lady sitting on the pavement next to the entrance of Isetan at KLCC Suria.Besides her,I saw a guard standing by.By the way, there is always a guard around this part of KLCC garden.

Sketching is good for my mind and my hand.I do sketch as I feel like it even though I am not good at all.It is quite therapeutic,at least for me.Many of us can draw...why not give it a try.

Sketch #8

After having my early dinner at a restaurant,I took some time to sketch the fresh flower that sits on the centre of the table.Using a black ball pen to draw the outlines and later I used fine colored Staedtler triplus fineliners.When I returned home I added the background with water colours.If you cannot notice,it is a fresh red rose!

By the way,the real thing is much more beautiful than what I could draw here.Before I drew this,I had to see the details of the stalk and the flower and that made more aware  and appreciative of Allah's creation.

Photos ,Arts & Graphics at LRT stations

While taking a trip from Ampang to KLCC on the LRT today,I observed that the walls of LRT stations are plain boring.May be these spaces are reserved  for rental to advertisers but while waiting for the adverisers to come in, why not decorate them with some nice photos of the life of the people living in KL or the artwork depicting Malaysian life.I think National Art Gallery and mg KL Flickr friends are to happy to co-operate to make our journeys more colourful.

I hope the management of Rapid KL can look into this matter,not only to promote arts but also to promote tourism in our country.

I keep sketching..

Please forgive my indulgence in trying to do something that I have nothing to show off but it is important for me to keep on trying to improve my free hand sketches.It is my effort to improve my hand movements,to improve my fading memory and and an exercise to pay attention to details.This shot is a 3rd attempt to capture what I saw at Putrajaya Wetland using pen and a few coloured pencils.You can see my previous sketches here with some photos.My experience showed me that I learn more about my life when I started To Draw my Life.
