Let me borrow Leo Babauta lesson learnt No.11

11. You can’t motivate people. The best you can hope for is to inspire them with your actions. People who think they can use behavioral “science” or management techniques have not spent enough time on the receiving end of either.

I failed to motivate my sons to read, but by sheer good luck/opportunity,I rode on the craze of Harry Potter and managed to inspire my son to read.Now,he is reading on his own.The latest book that motivated him to go into business is As the Crow Flies by Sir Jefferey Archer.

I failed to get my other son to reduce his weight but I inspired him to ride bicycle.Now, he rides and his weight came down better than mine.

My friend spent hundreds of ringgit buying books for her son but her son didnot bother to read even a book.

I cycle about 8 times a week and read a book a month;but my friend only bought books but never read them.That made the difference!
