My friend asked me the above question and I replied that I do but not everyday and not all the newspapers. So I asked him the same question back and he said no.I asked him again why not.And he replied it makes him feel bad reading all the bad and sad news everyday!
I don't blame him because if you just pick up the newspapers today,we can read very little news that make us smile to go to work every morning. My wise friend told me to read only what matters to me and just do my own business. It sounds rather selfish but it has some grains of truth in it.Personally,I read news online and read newspapers at my office if something worth reading. At weekend,I buy a few newspapers-both Malay and English..
As active user of Facebook,I noticed that if something does matter, then my friends will post it on his/her Facebook and sometimes they tag me.Nowadays, news is every where and I sometimes feel drown by its sheer volume...not to mention the text messages, etc.
For more than a decade,we have annual national campaign to get Malaysians to read.I don't know how successful but now I know for sure everyone reads-messages,emails,tweets etc from their mobile phones! From my experience, some of these we could do without.By the way,is that included 'reading'?
