Today,I was greatly mesmerised by the work of art by 100 sketches of A. Samad Said and the paintings of Masnoor Ramli Mahmud at Galeri Petronas,KLCC.Many of Samad's sketches were done on the white napkins with lines and dots.As far as I know A. Samad Said is a novelist, but today I can safely conclude that he is also an artist.
Here is A Samad Said's statement:
Whether we realise it or not,we have been given a beautiful world by Almighty to enjoy or destroy according to our individual taste or rampant human desires.
These are some of the turbulences of human stupidity or intelligence that I have tried to sketch.
Bumi Manusia is the multimedia captures on canvas and film of a journey through Nusantara by Masnoor Ramli Mahmud.My jaws dropped and I was speechless looking at his creative work using photos,GPS maps,graphics and video telling the story of the journey from Aceh to Kuching.
Masnoor quoted the following words from Al-Rumi in his video and paintings:
..every where I glance I see You..
O Lord,Trully your grace is not from our work,but from your mysterious Giving.
