A note on my table..

Below is a short note written by my schoolmate and posted at our alumni mailinglist. When I read this note, I cried for his 8-year old daughter who lost her mother a few years ago.

There's a note purposely put on the table by my daughter (8 years-old) that i read last night when i reach home from work...

"Mama,Zizi tahu mama dah tak ada tapi Zizi sangat sayang dekat mama.Zizi rindu sangat dekat mama sebab mama baik, cantik,

putih, macam awan.Mama...Zizi nak sangat peluk mama.Zizi sangat sayang mama".

Cuma airmata yang mengalir dipipi saya selepas membaca nota itu.Dan memandang kewajahnya yang sedang tidur...saya hanya mampu mengucup dahinya dan membelai rambutnya...

  Selamat hari ibu.

The above was reproduced verbatim with written consent from my schoolmate to share with you.My apologies for not being able to translate the above in English.

Let's be grateful to Allah that many of us still have our mothers, especially me who can still talk and hug my mother(who is 73 years old and my grandmother who is 90+ years old).

Happy Mothers Day

144586319_3cf3a5b18e_m First, let me thank Allah swt,The Lord of All The Worlds,Seen and Unseen,Known and Unknown for giving me the best mother and also for my wife ,the mother of my three boys.Thank you and I am forever grateful,My Rabb for your mercy and kindness.

2295257906_c83616cf4e_m2 I offer my apologies to my mother and my wife for my failings and weaknesses for not not being able to convey in full my gratitudes to both of you for your unconditional love and tireless sacrifices for me and my three children.Only my hugs and kisses to both of you as always...

Below is my cut/paste reference in the Qur'an and Hadith relating to mothers:

The Quran

1. "We have enjoined on man   kindness to his parents; in pain did his mother bear him, and in pain did she   give him birth" (46:15).

2. "Thy Lord hath decreed that   ye worship none but Him, and that ye be kind to parents. Whether one or both   of them attain old age in thy life, say not to them a word of contempt, nor   repel them, but address them in terms of honor. And out of kindness, lower to   them the wing of humility, and say: ‘My Lord! bestow on them Thy Mercy   even as they cherished me in childhood' "(17:23-24).

3. "We have enjoined on man   and woman kindness to parents; but if they (either of them) strive (to force)   thee to join with Me anything of which thou hast no knowledge, obey them not'"   (29:8).

4. "We have enjoined on man   and woman (to be good) to his/her parents; show gratitude to Me and to thy parents;   to Me is (thy final) Goal. If they (parents) strive to make thee join in worship   with Me things of which thou hast no knowledge, obey them not; yet bear them   company in this life with justice (and consideration) and follow the way of   those who turn to Me (in love)" (31:14-15).

The Hadith

1. The Prophet Muhammad said, may Allah's   peace and blessings be upon him: Your Heaven lies under the feet of your mother   (Ahmad, Nasai).

2. A man came to the Prophet and said, ‘O   Messenger of God! Who among the people is the most worthy of my good companionship?   The Prophet said: Your mother. The man said, ‘Then who?' The Prophet said:   Then your mother. The man further asked, ‘Then who?' The Prophet said:   Then your mother. The man asked again, ‘Then who?' The Prophet said: Then   your father. (Bukhari, Muslim).

3. Abu Usaid Saidi said: We were once sitting   with Rasulullah when a man from the tribe of Salmah came and said to him: O   Messenger of Allah! do my parents have rights over me even after they have died?   And Rasulullah said: Yes. You must pray to Allah to bless them with His Forgiveness   and Mercy, fulfill the promises they made to anyone, and respect their relations   and their friends (Abu Dawud and Ibn Majah).

4. Abdullah ibn Amr related that the Messenger   of Allah said: The major sins are to believe that Allah has partners, to disobey   one's parents, to commit murder, and to bear false witness (Bukhari, Muslim).

5. It is narrated by Asma bint Abu Bakr   that during the treaty of Hudaibiyah, her mother, who was then pagan, came to   see her from Makkah. Asma informed the Messenger of Allah of her arrival and   also that she needed help. He said: Be good to your mother (Bukhari, Muslim).

Selamat Pengantin Baru,Shariah!

I am very happy indeed to attend your weddinglast night.I had great time meeting our relatives from far and near.On the day you were married(Thursday 20/03/08),I cried when your brother performed the akad nikah as the wali. How I wish my beloved uncle Dato' Haji Mohd Shahir(your late father) was the one to do it.But as you knew, he could not be with us on this auspicious day..He was called to his Rabb about a year ago on 1/3/2007.That ceremony  reminded me of my only sister's marriage. My own father died a few years before my sister got married and I was the wali.

My du'a for you ,Shariah-Selamat Berbahagia sehingga ke akhir hayat.

Note on the photo: After the ceremony , afew of my family members took turn to take photos with the couple.

She is waiting...

GrandmaThe photo shows a candid shot of my grandma when I visited her some time ago.She was not aware that I was there taking her photo because she could not see anymore. Her age is in the late 90's.

Yesterday, at her house, she was waiting for the body of her  son (my uncle whom I mentioned in yesterday posting) to arrive.Eight months ago,she lost her eldest son and yesterday was her second eldest son.Two deaths in a year for her and may Allah swt be pleased with her patience.Despite her age and losing her two sons within eight months, she is quite strong emotionally.

This incident reminds me of the what happened on 5th Dec,1980.It was the day that shocked my family, especially my beloved and dearest mom.During that night, her father passed away and the next morning her husband passed away-in the same house!.I just hugged her- no words came out from my mouth, only tears flowing...

If you still have a mother, never keep her waiting for you.If you can't go home as often as you wish, a phone call is good enough to brighten her day.
