Photos: Morning glory..

As a morning person who wakes early I enjoy many scenic mornings as the sun rises...The colours changes with time.The above  is one snapshot as I was having my morning walk at Putrajaya last Saturday..[taken from behind Masjid Sultan Mizan]

Below is a shot of Masjid Sultan Mizan  as we came down from Menara Alaf Baru[the one the looks like a missile standing tall in the above photo]

 

Light by design

This is one example where I saw a  nice design of the roofs to get some natural light into a building.Lately,I observed that a few residential buildings are having too much glass.It is a really good business for curtain makers and air-condition suppliers

Personally,I love to see more natural light in a built environment but at times it is too hot.Balance is very important.Not only that, the locations of these "see through walls" need more thoughts by the designers.

Different views..

We can see different views at the different time even at the same place.The difference comes about due to the time and the human and animals activities.What we see and experience also depend on our fast or slow we are passing that point in space and in time.Our lives are the sum of our daily experience;it is boring,then it is boring.But we have a choice,a choice to make it better and enrich our lives-no matter what our social and economic status.What happens around us is beyond our control and what matters more is what is our respond to it.

Let us savour some of the good moments of our lives and live our lives to the full and not sleeping through it.This photo shot below is one moment that many of us missed it because we were sleeping or heedless of it.Have a good weekend to all...

When I was a kid in the 50's,I heard a folklore story about the pot of gold is located where the rainbows meets the horizon.By the way,no one then told us how the rainbows happens after a rainfall...

Two weeks ago I went to JB to visit my son who was working there then.When he took me around JB,I noticed a lot of new highways and interchanges within the city.

As we approached Danga Bay,I saw the existing road being widened into the sea.I don't know about the new development going to take place there,but my fervent hope is to see a newly rehabilitated beach along the road where children can go and play and old folks like me can sit around enjoy the scenery and read books...

More trees,please!

As they say,money don't grow on the trees.Likewise,the trees don't grow on the roadsides if we don't plant them there.Just look at this photo.It is so cooling to drive even though the temperature is 34 deg C!

Many of my friends do express their happiness every time it rains nowadays.Why?It is because of the heat wave now.Every time it rains in my neighbourhood,I smile from ear to ear.My place is a new housing estate(about 3 years old) and most of the trees had been cut down and new ones have yet to be planted and the few planted have yet to grow tall.One of the reasons I go to FRIM every other weekend is to get away from the heat;not to mention I love cycling there!

To those in power at our local governments,before you approve the development plans,please ensure that no trees being cut unnecessarily and get developers to plant trees at the beginning of the construction phase.Thank you.

During a hot sunny afternoon,I felt hotter driving along an elevated highway where there are no trees along  the highways...

 

The heat wave..

Everyone is suffering from the current high temperature.Ever wonder why? Just look out from  your doors/windows and balconies,how many big trees you can count within 100metres from house/office.I saw none from mine.

Below is a photo I took along the road to Kepong ,a new housing estate.Yes, indeed it is a 'housing' estate and see for yourself how many trees around the vicinity?

On my way home,I took this photo below as I left FRIM.Look how shady and cooling it is.

 The photo below showed the dawn when I arrived at Semenyih at about 7:30am.I believe it is the Broga Hill in the horizon and I knew for sure there is a waterfall there near the Orang Asli settlemet.There are a lot of trees up there but anyone want to live there?

Before we put all the blame on Global Warming,let us ask the first question:Who cut those trees and build concrete jungle for all of us? 
 

Snow white

 Yesterday,I received this lovely photo from a friend who lives in Holland.What a beautiful sight to behold in one's own garden.When I was a student at Sheffield University,England in early 70's,I never got an opportunity to see and waddle through this thick snow.My first experience was in Switzerland in 1987 when my boss sponsored me a trip to Europe for my 10th wedding anniversary.Now, I am getting romantic;-)

As soon as our tour bus stopped for us to see and experience this type of snow,the whole busload of us rushed out and played with the snow like kids.Someone commented:"We forgot to bring a few jars of sweet syrups,otherwise we could have 'ice kachang' by the lorry loads!".It is just like the Arab tourists who roam our Lake Garden where waters and tall trees every where.

C'est la vie..

Good planning and building designs..

Yesterday was my first visit to Mydin Bazaar at Prescint 14,Putrajaya.While waiting for my wife doing her shopping at Mydin Bazaar,I walked the streets and explored the area.The only regret was I did not take my camera and forgot my sketch book.However,I managed to snap this photo using built in camera in my old Nokia 6600(locally known as sabun).

As I walked I smiled from ear to ear....

The streets are not the same old boring straight roads and the buildings were constructed using the existing undulating terrain.In front, I saw ample car park and at the back, I saw beautiful landscaped garden.The roads are wide and there ample space for senior citizens to walk without being hit by the motorist!

That reminds me to take my bike and roam this Diplomatic prescint area!

As I walked,I felt that I am not in a typical Malaysian town.The planning and building design reminded me of my visits to a few  countries in Europe-nice and people friendly! Now, I am thinking of riding my MTB bike this weekend.Anyone wish to join me there?By the way, there are few nice restaurants...
