High handedness!

Yesterday,I have a not so nice experience when I asked for explaination about my application at one of the service counters at a government department in Putrajaya.The officer asked me,"Are you an engineer?".I replied yes.Then he said,"You should know this!".The implication of that statement hurts my feeling.A simple explaination will do.I only asked for a sample to submit my application.

I got two choices-argue my case or just leave.Since I donot wish to be 'elevated' to the officer's level of arrogance,I smiled and left with a thank you to him.It is better for my heart.

Below is a short note I wish to share with my fellow readers:

Humility

Getting close to  Allah by voluntary deeds is only done by those people who are completely humble and submissive to Allah. Similarly, having love for the beloved servants of Allah (His Auliya) only comes about through humility and humbleness. Furthermore, some of Allah's beloved servants are the poorest and most humble people of this world. One must love them and be kind to them and accept them as one's brothers. This can only be accomplished by those who are humble and free of arrogant pride. The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) stated,

"Allah has revealed to me that you must be humble, so that no one boasts over another." [Muslim]

Floria 2011

Yesterday I took my family to visit Floria 2100-The Flower Festival in Putrajaya. and at night we went to see the floats on the river.What a beautiful-not to be missed if you love flowers..

 

The right tools..

Whatever you are doing,please use the right tools for the right jobs!What if we failed to fix the tyres of our cars or bicycles properly?It may cost our own lives!The tools may be the right ones but the person must have knowldge and skills-otherwise the jobs will not get done.The example mentioned applies to all aspect of our everyday lives as well as the life of a nation.

Pelting stones at KTM trains?

I just can't believe what I am reading this morning!

There are some people in Negri Sembilan(also in some states)  who still cannot watch the trains passing by without throwing some stones to break a few train windows!If it happened in the 50'a and 60's I could understand, but it happened yesterday in the year 2010!These culprits should go and live in the jungle.

Another 12 lives lost on the road!

Yes,just another number added to our shameful national statistic of about 5000+ annual deaths on our roads and highways!When I read the report this morning,it reminded me of what I saw when I was travelling from KB to KL yesterday for 7.5 hrs for a distance of about 500km.

On some stretches,the road was a racing track for buses,lorries,cars an motor-cycles.And many broke all the basic traffic rules in the book(especially on speed & overtaking).When the cats were away,the mice had a dance party on the road!When an accident happens, there will hues and cries from all and sundry and later,it is business as usual.Any lesson learned?

I believe that those in power knows what needs to be done.My question is when are they going to really DO SOMETHING about it to reduce this madness???

May I quote Einstein: "The greatest INSANITY of all is to expect different result when we kept on doing the same thing." Your Honour,I rest my case.

Taking a rest..

After we are tired of doing something,all of us need a rest.The photo on the right was snapped at a shopping complex as I went down the escalator.I saw four persons taking a rest on the chairs provided.One is listening to the music via his iPod,next one is reading a book and the other is reading a newspaper.The lady in pink has just sat down and making herself comfortable.

As I grow older(today I am 58 years old),I need more frequent rest and it takes longer time to recover after a hard day's work.I have to learn to live with that and embrace it.The most important thing is we accept who and what we are and make the best of it.In my case,I am blessed with good health -can walk 10km and cycle 20km  with no heart and leg problems.Thank you my Lord for your blessings.

A few younger men I met have real stress problems and one of them(age 30+) has collapsed a few days ago when his blood pressure jumped to more than 200!Please take care and take a rest when your body has spoken.

Free book from Guy Kawasaki : The Macintosh Way

I read this book more than 10 years ago and some months back I  gave away this book to my alma mater's library.Yesterday,I read that the author is giving away this book for free via pdf file but one must be a follower of his tweets.Today,Apple Inc is a big success story and as they say,the rest is a history.May I add,"It is interesting to read the history".

At one time,Apple was in trouble,and I wrote to Guy then that the company needed Steve Jobs back.

Social media and Ramadhan

Ramadhan is just around the corner.Maarhaban Ya Ramadhan!

A few days ago,I observed that a a few individuals are promoting Ramadhan as a blessed month in Islamic Calendar.A few Hadiths and verses from the Qur'an were qouted to inform and persuade readers to the benefits of doing more ibadah in Ramadhan al-Maburrak.I am very happy to note that Facebook is being used for the good benefits of the ummah.

Twitter is limited by its 140 characters per tweet  limit, but I saw a lot being used in Indonesia to inform about the activities of the masjids in the coming months.Personally,I am using blogs(The Reader),Facebook(Adib Noh) and Twitters(ululalbab/berisman)

I am looking forward to learn from others on more creative and engaging ways to promote,persuade and engage fellow muslims/muslimahs to Islam and Islamic way of life..

By the way,do you have the plan to make this coming Ramadhan better than your last one?
