It was a great honour for me to get an audience with Datuk Dr Afifi al-Akiti at his house in Oxford.By the will and rahmat from Allah swt, I managed to get an apointment to see this reknown Islamic scholar. For info about him and links to his writings/videos, kindly click here.My great thanks to Azam for his effort to make the meeting possible. My intentions to visit Oxford were to meet the Sheikh and to cycle there and by the Grace of Allah ,I was given both.Thank you Allah for your rahmah on me.
There were two reasons for me to meet the Sheikh;first was to get to know him in person and establish a connection.I learnt that if I want knowledge I must be connected to the man of knowledge.Second,I have a few questions to seek his views.
One thing I wish to share with fellow readers is the tradition of the mureed to pay a courtesy call to his teachers, scholars and ulama.I learnt it from my late father, who was a Tok Guru Pondok Beris,Bachok,Kelantan. He used to take me along when he visited his peers. And indeed,I have learnt a lot from the Sheikh. If I may quote the saying of the sufis,"One hour with a wise man is better than one thousand years with a fool".
The Sheikh was shoiwing me the note on "gene God" in his journal.

Is Dr.Afifi origiante from or born in Perak ? I am just guessing his nama al-Akiti is related to the town or village of 'Kati' near Kuala Kangsar ?
