When I got my Nuvi GPSr(car navigation gadget for my car) a few years back,a friend told me he doesn't need a small electronic map to show him the roads in KL.To him,it is an expensive toy to know what he already knows...Well,I did not argue with him but for me,I need it to guide and confirm my route so that I don't waste time taking the wrong turn especially going to new locations-meetings,weddings,etc.
A few months back,I started reading tweets on KL Traffic. It is quite useful to know which roads are badly jammed or even at a stanstill.Tweets also inform us about police roadblocks and accidents on the roads. These are users generated live date and I foud them quite useful in planning my road trips daily.[ex:
Another apps that I began to like is WAZE on my iPad.I like it more becuase of its user interface that showsnot only the maps to my destinations but also the traffic conditions on the maps and near my present location.
The photo on the right show how bad the morning traffic to KL from all directions..
Below is another map at night that I captured when I was in Putrajaya last night..With all this information,I don't think it is an expensive toy any more-saving my time and fuel, not to mention it keeps me call during the journey..
