Perhaps because they read/say the numbers from smallest to biggest, so they really write nimbers from right to left too.

Kalau mengikut apa yg cikgu Bahasa Arab saya cakap dlm kelas pada 29 November tahun lepas, contoh:

٦٣ - dalam Bahasa Arab ia disebut salasun wa sittun. ia ditulis dari kanan ke kiri, tapi masih dibaca dari kiri ke kanan, di mana kita sebut ٣ (salasun) terlebih dahulu, barulah ٦٠ (sittun).
