Two nights ago,I snapped this photo at our masjid. There were only about 20 persons present listening to the Kuliyyah magrib. On the way,I passed through a road(located about 500m from the masjid)crowded with people doing their weekly shopping at Pasar Malam in my neighbourhood. When it comes to the pull factor on our choice,Pasar Malam wins hand down, every week!It has become a weekly festival of shopping for the locals.
I could safely say that only a minority of us fellow muslims and muslimahs are really interested to learn more about our religion Islam.Let's du'a that Allah put us among that minority and keeps us there, insyaAllah.
Below let me quote a posting from nasiha.com:
Someone once asked the Prophet, peace be upon him: "Which land is most beloved to Allah, and which land is most despised by Him?"
The Prophet (peace be upon him) replied: "I do not know until I ask the angel Gabriel."
Thereafter, Gabriel informed him that the most beloved places are the mosques and the most disliked are the marketplaces. [Musnad Ahmad, Musnad Abî Ya`la, and Mustadrak al-Hâkim]
very true abedib...
