I have heard many horror stories about our older folks fell in the toilets. We have to build safe features to protect them and us if we live long enough..

Cheaper contractor, like the one who designed my house 20+ years old timber stair case, just have two grooves at the edge of the plank. Instead of filling the grooves with metal strips. :-/

As I come down the stairs,if the wooden grooves are visible, then it is okay.If not,I think a metal strap that shows the edge of the plank is better;especially middle age men like me growing older..

Pak Adib,
we have this as safety features on all offshore platforms to prevent personnel from slipping while using the stairs. We termed it as 'antislip nosing'.

Jefri,
There are a lot of safety features in off shore construction where we can incorporate inside our building designs. Thanks for your inputs.
