Reading is my passion and when I saw a kid reading,I just can't resist to take his/her photo. This photo was snapped using my mobile phone when I was at Popular Bookshop yesterday.[my apologies for low quality photo shot]
By the way, just look at the way he sat and read the book! I was watching him for a few minutes and was wondering where the book has taken the young boy even though his body was right in front of me? Books can take us any where to any part of the world via our imagination. That is one of the beauty of reading books...
My Current reading:
1.Trump 101
2.Langkah2 Menuju kepada Allah

yes, he's engrossed.
have started to visit public libraries again after the office library closed down. Am making it a pt to read at least 1 book per month .
have been reading about women these past months. titles include:
mayada, daughter of Iraq - jean sasson - a must read for those who want to have a feel of how pple are tortured in the Iraqi prison during saddam's times.
princess, daughters of arabia & desert royal all by the same author. didn't complete these. returned them back to library; probably will borrow again to complete them if cant find better books.
currently reading: "do they hear you when you cry" - fauziya kassindja & layli miller bashir; so far very interesting; eye opener..
i think ladies will appreciate these books better..

Reading is after all can be either relaxing or boggling our mind. It is a fact that reading stimulates our brain cells: comprising mostly 100billions of neurons and glial cells (that which occupy 90% of the brain cells). Reading sources vary from books to electronic sources. There are people who only read light/trashy/entertainment materials while some opt for educational/heavy reading materials related to their education/job (like you, pak adib, for eg).
Apa2 pon, irrespective of what they read, they would definitely gain whatever info/knowledge no matter good or bad out of it.

Thank you Su and Manal for your feedbacks.Btw, let me ask: What is reading?
How could we gain on formation from alphabets that form words and subsequently paragraphs of sentences convey the information/thoughts from the author to the reader?
Manal,
I just wonder how would 100billion brain cells get stimulated from the act of reading? What tigger off mechanism/enery were involved?

Pak Adib, unfortunately ,only a small part of neurons are used per day. That too depends on the capacity of each individual how much could he/she utilize those neuron cells and how much of it remains inactive. So to answer your question, it is for you and me to find out more about it, i.e. the scientific explanation to it (mind game hehe....)
Senaman minda, now that sounds pretty cliche...Some of the mental exercises (that i think) that may stimulate our mind are through reading, playing with numbers, memorizing things/details/songs/pictures/etc, observing, listening, learning new things/gadgets, playing games, and sharing thoughts.
But we do need to look after our health too, just like the arabian proverb: a healthy mind (exists) in a healthy body (al-aqlus-saleem fil-jismis-saleem).

Manal,
Let me more specific on my quest for an answer:
What is reading as a process from physiological and intellectual aspects?
Atok,
You should do more reading now because you a resident in Reading,UK;-)ker guano?
Btw,Alberto Manguel has written a book on The History of Reading.

Pak Adib, braille reading, sight reading, eye reading, speed reading, reading skills (SQ3R)?
physio= eyes mechanism(sight sense) with the help of the light and rapid connection to the neurons. If one is blind, more skin receptors and neurotransmitters between one's fingertips and the brain.
intellectual = reading skills development. Differs from each individual how fast can one person understand between a technical article and a piece of literature.
And then, there's reading between the lines, thought/mind reading, palm reading, measurement readings, graph/data readings and so on.
