Have you read his 'Messaege in a bottle', 'A walk to remember', 'The Notebook'?
Nicholas Sparks is fine, but still far from Grisham, Puzo or Hemmingway...
What do you think?

I used to read novels way back in 80's but now seldom do for obvious reason. My love for good novels are still there though. I remembered reading Shogun By James Clavell in between exams and just could not put the book down until the last page....bad for health!!! My favorite was Trevanian for his cynical look and beautiful style of expression. His master works was SHIBUMI.

Lina,
I read all those books you mentioned but none written by Puzo or Hemingway. Can you recomment one book by each of them?

Gukita,
Thanks for sharing your readings with us.I have yet to read a Japanese novel.

I do recomment Omerta by Mario Puzo, The old man and the sea, Farewell to the arms by Hemmingway. 2 thumbs up for those novels.

I think I never read japanese novel written by non-Japanese..Ow, I read some. Memoirs of Geisha (Sayuri), and some novels by Lafcadio Hearn (I forgot his japanese name). But I hardly remember the story.
But I really love Japanese novels written by Japanese.

Too much to be mentioned. but I recomment Murakami Haruki's. He's great!

Thanks Lina for the recommendations. I bought The Old man nand The Sea and Omerta this afternoon.

Last January,I read two books and no books at all in Feb.,2006.It is time for me to catch with two books in March,2006;-)

For photos of the books, pls click my photo album at the Flickr.

Congratulation!!!!!
U wont regret it, trust me!
I read Omerta in 3 days. break the record, Sir! I know u can! d(^^)b
I really adore Trilogy of Godfather.so, reading Omerta makes it complete.
The old man and the sea... the reason why I love hemmingway so much.
Ganbatte kudasai!!!!!

Akhi, SHIBUMI is not Japanese novel. It is japanese concept of understated quality in mundane everyday appearance found so appealing for the hero in the novel. The literary style of the author is just....consuming. His other book is The Eiger Sanction; also stylish in expression but SHIBUMI is just top of the world...

Lina,
I took 5 days to read Omerta-GREAT story. Can't put the down:-)

Gukita,
Do you still have the book Shibumi? If you do,pls lend it to me.
Thanx.

so, after Omerta, one more to go? Fight!!!
Shibumi is not a novel? oops ^^;

By the way, anyone read Dickens'?

Lina,

Most of my friends who read books have not read Dickens-so am I.

Btw, Chickens is popular in Malaysia in our Nasi Ayam;-)

Hey Adib!!!

Remember me from Bookcrossing? Sorry I couldn't go the other day...I was too scared to brave the flood waters. Can't wait to meet up this coming month.

Will keep your blog in my fave links.

Hi Denise,
Yes, I remember you!
Thanks for reading my musings here and I look forward to see you at the next meetup.
Hopefully no more floods.
