________
Liberal Islam:
A Clear And Present Danger
______________________________
Date: 10th September 2005
Venue: Pusat Sains Negara
Mont Kiara, KL
Organised By: Muslim Professionals Forum
What is Liberal Islam? What is its origin and background? How is it viewed from Islamic thoughts and tradition? What is its impact and how pervasive is its influence on Muslims? How should we address this threat?
The objective of this Seminar is to discuss the liberal thoughts and material secularism aggressively promoted by the West.
Owing to the wide scope of this problem, MPF intends to organise this Seminar in a series. This is the first and the speakers are only a part of many whom we plan to invite for talks in future seminars.
MPF welcomes organisations, scholars, intellectuals and concerned individuals to participate and together make this seminar a success.

Pak Adib. this is another commercialization of Islam..I do not agree with making Islam a product for sale and making money.. and I do not believe in all the talk, all talk and rhetoric are pure waste of time...it is action that is important...Be a good person and contribute to making this world a better place to live and enjoy life. There are already too much rhetoric and it is not productive at all. thanks.

i agree wif pak ishak. n well, sometimes, all these ceramahs, seminars, forums, n kursus can be quite 'misleading' too (im not undermining the speakers creadibility. nampak gah belaka). it's just that ppl must bear in mind the roots are Al-Quranul Karim n As-Sunnah. matlamat tidak sesekali/tidak harus/ tidak sepatutnya menghalalkan cara. wallahualam.

Assalamualaikum,
We appreciate the comments and concern as expressed by Pak Ishak & Fatihah. We fully agree with Fatihah that we must abide by the Quran & Sunnah and strongly uphold it.
Don't you think, sekira ikut Quran & Sunnah kita kena sentiasa baik sangka? There may be talks & forums which are ineffective, but not necessarily all are as such. Its thru forums such as this that information can be shared and disemminated.
It takes effort and research to organise this seminar, and to ensure its in line with Quran & Sunnah. Also what is important, the seminar is organised due to the urgent need to inform and create awareness in others on the dangers of "liberal islam" seeping subtly in our community.
We have to protect ourselves, other Muslims and especially our younger generations, our anak cucu, who can be quite vulnerable, from being wrongly influenced.
We feel its our duty to inform and make others aware of the misleading tactics certain groups are practicing against Islam.
MPF is not rhetoric. Who may I ask is taking up challenge of the liberal theology which is filling up the spaces of mainstrean media and M'siakini?
MPF is an NGO. The seminar fee is quite minimal to cover cost such as rental, administration, speakers fees, refreshment, logistics etc. And by the way the seminar is not a profit enterprise, we are incurring losses, but in our mind its a worthy investment.
We hope you will try to understand that our intention of organising this event is so that we can together gain knowledge and that we are trying to "Be a good person and contribute to making this world a better place to live and enjoy life... dunia & akhirat."

wslm wrt.
indeed. tq al-maklum.
im glad and happy with u n yr group intentions to further explain the 'dangers' of Islam Liberal. It is not the dangers really, but more on equipping the young mind's that's important, as u've mentioned.
it is not the effectiveness/ineffectiveness that's my concern but the content of the courses. of course u'd wished that apa yg disampaikan reached yr audiences but i guess whoever registered themselves are there to learn n will learn something. no worries bout that.
again, it is a great effort on yr side. all the best n may Allah blesses the event and many more to come. insyaAllah.
wassalam.

Salam,
If we feel strong, nothing can influence us. All talks would be useless. It's like a fish that never gets salty in salty ocean. But, as a Muslim, we must protect the weak Muslim. It coul be our dearest one gone astray for his weakness, thus how would we feel?
Let's share with and disseminate our knowledge to others, hence be strong together.
I joined the seminar. It was wonderful. At least new knowledge i gained.
peace.
