Al- Maidah Chapter 5: Verse 105
Today is 1st July,2005-half of the year 2005 has gone by.....
Most of us muslims/muslimahs have been reminded time and again to muhasabah ourselves, but how many of us really do it??? This is also a reminder for me.
When I was working in a public listed company, I remember that we have to submit our quarterly financial reports to KLSE.The stakeholders and the regulators need to be informed what had taken place and the performance of the company for the last three months.Likewise,we as muslims/muslimahs must do muhasabah for ourselves as often as possible in order to be a better muslim/muslimah.
Please visit this webpage that explains the meaning of muhasabah better than I do.
PS: After we do muhasabah, we should come out with a TO DO list(include also list of things not to do),may be some deliverables to be accomplished and some milestones.

Salam Abedib,
I was thinking along the sameline while driving to office this morning. Half the year gone, what have I achieved? Time for me to do some reflections...
Thanks for the reminder :-)

AbeDib,
Dhu'l-Nun was asked: "What causes a devotee to be worthy of entrance to paradise?" He said: "One merits entrance to paradise by five things: unwavering constancy, unflagging effort, meditation on God in solitude and society, anticipating death by preparing provision for the hereafter, and bringing oneself to account before one is brought to judgment."

Nasrun,
To translate some Arabic word for word is misleading. We need the get explaination from qualified people who knows the meaning both from language as well as Islamic interpretation.
As an example the word 'haq'.
IMHO,menghisab diri is too simplisitic and SELF JUDGEMENT is inccorrect.I will agree with the meaning as mentioned by Wok:bringing oneslef to account before one is brought to judgement.
